    Answers:

1.  What is 'Send SMS'?
This is a premium feature of Rediffmail Plus. You can send an SMS to a mobile phone in India or the US from your Rediffmail Plus account. Your Rediffmail Plus account comes bundled with 100 units of SMS. Please note that SMS to US is taken equal to 3 units. The list of mobile service providers currently supported by Rediffmail 'Send SMS' is available on the 'Send SMS' page.

Generally speaking, this includes all service providers in the U.S and all GSM service providers in India (but not CDMA providers like Reliance Infocomm and Tata Indicom). You could also buy this feature from the "stand alone feature" by Clicking on "Upgrade Mail" link. This page enables you to purchase SMS in 250 and 500 package. The same can be purchased after your SMS account balance of 100 is exhausted.

2.  Does my recipient pay for receiving a Send SMS?
If your recipient resides in India, he does not incur any cost in receiving a SMS in India. However if your recipient resides abroad and his mobile service provider charges for incoming messages, he will be charged at that rate.
